Welcome to Bank Transactions Analyzer. By accessing or using our service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Bank Transactions Analyzer, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you may not use our service.

2. Description of Service

Bank Transactions Analyzer is a web application that provides AI-powered categorization and analysis of bank transaction data. We process CSV files containing transaction information to help you organize and understand your financial activity.

3. User Accounts

Account Creation

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account
  • You must provide accurate and complete information during registration
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
  • You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account

Account Security

  • Keep your password confidential and do not share account access
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized account access
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms

4. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

  • Use the service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
  • Upload malicious content, viruses, or code that could harm our systems
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other user accounts
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from our service
  • Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the service without permission
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service or servers hosting the service
  • Use the service to process data that you do not have permission to access

5. Your Data

Data Ownership

You retain all ownership rights to the data you upload to our service. We do not claim ownership of your transaction data or CSV files.

Data Usage

By uploading data to our service, you grant us permission to process that data to provide our categorization and analysis features. This includes:

  • Sending transaction descriptions to Anthropic's Claude AI for categorization
  • Storing your data in our Supabase database
  • Using your categorization corrections to improve future suggestions for your account

Data Accuracy

You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and legality of data you upload. We do not verify the accuracy of transaction data and are not liable for errors in your source data.

6. AI-Generated Categorizations

Our service uses artificial intelligence to suggest transaction categories. Please note:

  • AI categorizations are suggestions only and may contain errors
  • You are responsible for reviewing and verifying all categorizations
  • We do not guarantee the accuracy or suitability of AI suggestions for tax or accounting purposes
  • Always consult with qualified tax or financial professionals for important financial decisions

7. Service Availability

We strive to provide reliable service, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Our service may be temporarily unavailable due to:

  • Scheduled maintenance
  • Technical difficulties
  • Third-party service outages (Supabase, Anthropic, Vercel)
  • Events beyond our reasonable control

8. Fees and Payment

Bank Transactions Analyzer is currently offered free of charge. We reserve the right to introduce fees for our service in the future with advance notice to users.

9. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of Bank Transactions Analyzer (including but not limited to software, text, graphics, logos, and design) are owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

Our service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:

  • Merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
  • Accuracy, reliability, or completeness of categorizations
  • Uninterrupted or error-free service
  • Security of data transmission

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from:

  • Use or inability to use our service
  • Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data
  • Errors or inaccuracies in AI categorizations
  • Any other matter relating to the service

Our total liability for any claim related to our service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (or $100 if you have not paid us anything).

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your use of the service
  • Your violation of any rights of another party
  • Data you upload to the service

13. Termination

By You

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at nick@simplyautomated.io or using the account deletion feature (when available).

By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if:

  • You violate these Terms
  • Your account is inactive for an extended period
  • We discontinue the service
  • Required by law

Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

  • Your access to the service will be revoked
  • We may delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and data retention schedule
  • You remain liable for any obligations incurred before termination

14. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by:

  • Sending an email to your registered email address
  • Displaying a prominent notice on our website
  • Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of these Terms

Your continued use of the service after changes indicates your acceptance of the modified Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

16. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the service shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association, rather than in court.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
